Welcome to The Black Foundation where we believe that education is opportunity.  For over 100 years Black Colleges and Universities have given students from around the world an opportunity for a quality education.  These institutions of higher learning have been the backbone of America’s workforce, past and present.  This is why we need your participation in our efforts to support these colleges.

Our Purpose

The Black Foundation, a non-profit organization, exists to provide support of historically black colleges and universities. Through our Campus Impact Grant Program, we and collaborative partners, award funds to Black Colleges and Universities which allow students and staff to work with us on projects that enhance the campus and student life.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to preserve the Legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, by enhancing campus life, through renovations and updating the campus physical plant.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create an investment relationship that is not only cost effective, but tax efficient, with the community and business industry that support our mission.  We are aware that certain Historically Black Colleges and Universities appear to have newly renovated buildings and the newest updates in technology, but there are many that stand truly on the word historic.  These institutions of higher education are over 100 years in age and many haven’t had updates to their campuses in decades.  Some are simply unable to keep up with the times for an array of reasons.  This is where the Black Foundation does its part as a collaborative partner in Continuing the Legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Our Values

Our values and principles of excellence consist of Collaboration, Accountability, Preservation, Service and Opportunity. (CAPSO)

Our History

The Black Foundation was formed by a coalition of five black alumni of Knoxville College. The endeavor to provide support to their alma mater surpassed the single thought of their own college and quickly learned that “It takes a community” to make a difference. Historically, the group started hosting events for their alumni to donate funds for their college. Thus, birthed the idea to empower the legacy of all black colleges and get the community involved. Therefore the Black Foundation was founded.
